Money Honey

Budgeting has never, EVER been something I've been good at or (honestly) even interested in. I've been known to cover my eyes when "looking" at my checking account balance and cringe whenever someone mentions credit scores, investments, or 401K's. UGH. This was *kinda* acceptable in my early twenties and not-so-hot at 35. I have a goddamn business degree & love organizing and managing business budgets and have done it for years yet my own monthly bills and expenses make me want to binge eat a freezer full of halo top. (Can I get an 'amen'???)

This year is the year I stop telling the stories of my financial stress and create one about how I have all of my ducks in a row, a robust savings account/emergency fund, and a credit score that's on it's way to making me realllllll proud.

Because I've declared this will be my journey, I've started by setting up a super duper detailed sheet on my google drive with the prettiest of fonts and colors to help me feel less anxiety when I open it up. I understand this is totes superficial, but I have to motivate myself with pretty things. It's kind of a non-negotiable. Soooo... I ran a credit report on myself and on Charlie. I dug into all of our monthly bills and Autopay schedule. I listed every debt we have and broke it up into bite sized pieces (to pay toward monthly). I'm actually kind of obsessed with it all. As my favorite Glennon Doyle Melton likes to say, “We can do hard things!” If we want to own homes (and pay them off), take fun trips & invest in our kids & not have constant stress around money... then it must be done.

There’s no way around it. It’s tough, but we are tougher.

It's been just a few weeks since I started on this path and I already feel kind of amazing. Turns out it feels incredible to start to take control of your finances & not just wing it! This is where all of you Type A, super amazing, adult people roll your eyes like, "Yea. Duh." This post isn't for you. This post is for the people who can relate to my vulnerability so they know they're not alone. NOPE.

NOT ALONE all you halo top eaters!

It's never too late to learn something new & sometimes scary things are not as bad as they seem. Every mountain ever climbed required a first step. --->Financial freedom, here I come!

*This is all mostly inspired by me wanting to go to Paris, if I'm being honest. Hence, the inspirational photo*

If you can relate to any of this, then jump on over to the store and buy yourself a "Pep Talk". I'll sort through your financial mess, organize it all, and help you make a plan. In addition, I'll act as your accountability coach while you get used to being in control & kicking money stress in the balls.
